relics of a bygone era. bulwark against any external enemy. Bastion and image of a claim to power visible to all, usually situated on a mountain or hill. Built to deter enemies. But perverted to hold "enemies" captive? What you read above is a rough description of the first introductory 5 minutes of "The last Castle" and a transition to what happened in this same prison, under the strict and cold regime of Col. Winter (James Gandolfini). He is of the opinion that the military convicts should also be deprived of their ultimate dignity, constantly throwing them into arguments and thereby keeping them "silent" in order not to let the slightest thought of a revolt arise. But then the highly decorated Liutenant General Eugene Irwin (Robert Redford) comes to this very camp, and Irwin, who is suffused with a sense of honor and the oath of allegiance, has a lot of fun here after a short period of incarceration (German Version)
