Rarity a cast plate with the motif:
the Rheinstein Castle
Just a brief history:
BURG Rheinstein rises on steep rocks, 82m vertically over the Rhine. It is one of the most unique and lovely castles on this well-known river. A gem from Germany's past. With its ivy-covered courtyards, gardens and terraces and its rich interior, it appears like a castle from a fairy tale. Nothing is known of its origins, but in 1279 it was mentioned in documents as a fortress of the archbishop and elector of Mainz to raise customs duties. At that time it was called "Vogtsburg". It had been owned by various aristocratic families since the 17th century and was acquired by Prince Friedrich von Preusen in 1825. Back then it was partly ruins. On the orders of the prince of an art lover and nephew of Queen Luise, she was restored. He had filled the castle with beautiful old furniture, valuable paintings, numerous rarities and a rich collection of coats of arms and weapons. Burg Rheinstein is currently the private property of Prince Heinrich von Preusen.
